Wendy Lim is Managing Director for Retail Banking and Wealth Products Asia Pacific.

As the head of this business, Wendy is responsible for ANZ’s Retail Banking and Wealth business across 26 markets in the Asia Pacific, including partnerships.

Prior to joining ANZ in January 2010, Wendy was the Regional Head of Retail Banking, Greater China and Southeast Asia for the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Wendy has also held various senior management positions with HSBC and Citibank, including Head of Consumer Banking and Senior Vice President Country Head of Marketing at HSBC.

In 2007, Wendy was identified as one of ‘100 Most Promising Young Bankers in the Asia Pacific and Gulf Region’ by The Asian Banker, a leading financial services magazine in Asia.

Wendy holds a Bachelor degree in Science and a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana State University, USA.

Sameer Sawhney is Managing Director of Corporate & Institutional Banking Asia Pacific and Private Bank Asia.

This role has accountability for a full range of ANZ corporate and institutional financial products, including Global Markets, Transaction Banking, and Specialised Lending, across these regions.

Institutional comprises large domestic and multi-national corporates, financial institutions and the public sector.

Sameer Sawhney is the Managing Director of Corporate & Institutional Banking Asia Pacific and Private Bank Asia, at ANZ. In this role Sameer has accountability for corporates and financial institutions as well as a range of financial products. Sameer also has accountability over the Private Bank business for Asia Pacific.

In July 2008, Sameer joined ANZ as the Managing Director of Corporate and Institutional Relationships, Asia Pacific. Prior to ANZ, Sameer worked for Standard Chartered Bank in various roles within the Wholesale division including Relationship Management, Transaction Banking and Markets. He also has experience across various markets including India, Middle East, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Sameer started his banking career with ANZ Grindlay's bank in India. He has two decades of experience in the banking industry and is a Chartered Accountant by profession.

Prior to joining ANZ in Feb 2011 as Managing Director of Commercial Banking, Asia, Ivy has previously worked for Standard Chartered in various positions ranging from Relationship Management, Business Control and Transaction Banking Product Management.

In 2002, Ivy has helped Standard Chartered to build the Hong Kong Middle Market business from scratch to a very profitable business in a few years and she started to double head the role of Managing Director, Local Corporates for Greater China since 2007.

She also led the Hsinchu International Bank in Taiwan prior to and during the integration period in order for Hsinchu to become profit contributing to Standard Chartered.

South & South East Asia

South & South East Asia includes ANZ's operations in Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.

Mark joined ANZ in June 2010 from Citigroup. During more than 25 years with Citi, Mark held senior leadership roles in Europe and Asia, including CEO South Asia, CEO Russia and Country Officer and Head of Turkey/Israel. Immediately prior to joining ANZ, Mark was CEO for Citigroup’s South Asia regional business, encompassing India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Mark holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Gilles Planté is CEO North East Asia, Europe and America, for ANZ. He is also General Manager for Strategy and Marketing, APEA.

In this role, he is responsible for driving growth and innovation in ANZ’s businesses in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Europe and America.

Gilles joined ANZ in 1997 after 10 years derivative trading experience in Paris, Tokyo, New York and Singapore, predominantly with Credit Suisse.

During his time at ANZ, Gilles has held a number of roles including most recently Global Head of Markets, Head of Markets, Europe and America (London), and Head of Currency and Commodity Derivatives. Gilles sits on the Board of E*Trade, Esanda, and ANZ Pensions (UK) Limited.

Gilles holds a Master of Science from Ecole Speciale de Mechanique et d’Electricite (ESME) in Paris and a Master of International Finance from Institut d’Administration des Entreprises Sorbonne (IAE) in Paris.

Gilles holds dual French and Australian citizenship and is based in Hong Kong.

Michael Rowland is Chief Executive Officer, Pacific - Asia Pacific, Europe and America Division.

As CEO Pacific, Michael is responsible for the leading bank and business in the Pacific across 12 countries including American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Timor Leste and Guam, which together employ more than 2,000 people. 

Previously, Michael held several senior executive positions at ANZ including Chief Financial Officer and General Manager Strategy, Marketing and Customer Segmentation for Institutional Division, Managing Director, Mortgages, Chief Financial Officer and Head of Integration for ANZ National Bank in New Zealand, Chief Financial Officer at ANZ's joint venture partner ING Australia and Chief Financial Officer of the (then) Personal Financial Services Division.

Michael joined ANZ in 1999 following 13 years at KPMG, the last three as a partner in the taxation practice. He has also held the position of Finance Director with AMRAD Corporation Limited.

Michael has a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University, a Graduate Diploma in Taxation Law from Monash University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Nigel Denby is Chief Risk Officer for ANZ’s Asia Pacific, Europe and America Division.

In this role Nigel is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of ANZ’s risk management framework while managing the local regulatory requirements and risks unique to the geography.

Nigel joined ANZ from Nomura Asia where he was Regional Head for Risk Management and Credit. Nigel had overall responsibility for market, credit and operational risk management for Asia.

With 25 years of experience in banking across Asia, the Middle East and South America, Nigel also spent most of his career at HSBC where he held a series of senior positions both in Risk Management and in the Corporate, Investment Banking and Markets Division.

He graduated with honours in Economics in 1983 from Exeter University in England.
