As Managing Director, Relationship Banking, Gary is responsible for our client agenda, in the Institutional, Financial Institutions and Corporate sectors across our three regions, ensuring consistency of approach and leveraging synergies across our relationship and product businesses.

Gary joined ANZ in September 2008 from Citigroup and has spent a considerable amount of his career in the Institutional business in various roles including offshore locations.

Gary was most recently Head of Corporate Banking Australia and New Zealand for Citigroup, leading the newly merged institutional and corporate coverage teams. Over the previous 14 years he held a number of senior roles for Citigroup, including Country Manager for Thailand and New Zealand.

Gary is a Senior Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance and also a Certified Investment Professional with the Institute of Finance Professionals in New Zealand.

Mark joined ANZ as Global Head of Trade & Supply Chain in 2009. Prior to joining ANZ, Mark spent five years at HSBC, initially as Head of Trade and Supply Chain for Australia and New Zealand and then based in Hong Kong where he was responsible for the Trade and Supply Chain business across Asia-Pacific.

Commencing his 25 year career as a graduate with National Australia Bank, Mark has subsequently built his knowledge of product development, relationship management, operations and trade and supply chain through various roles with St.George Bank, global financial services provider State Street and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, before joining HSBC.

Mark has achieved strong industry recognition in Trade and Supply Chain, Working Capital solutions and international products for corporate and financial institution clients, and is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Banking & Finance.

Nigel joined ANZ as Global Head of Payments & Cash Management in 2009. Prior to joining ANZ, Nigel was with Citi for 19 years, where he held several senior roles in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong – including Head of Transaction Services based in Singapore, and Regional Head of Treasury and Trade Services, Asia Pacific, Global Transaction Services, based in Hong Kong.

A career banker with over 25 years experience, Nigel started his career with Barclays in New Zealand before moving to Citi in New Zealand in 1990. In 1992 Nigel moved to Sydney with Citi where he held senior roles in FICC (Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities) before moving to Global Transaction Services in 2001.

In his roles at Citi, Nigel’s focus was moving the business toward a greater customer and country-centric strategy through collaboration with internal partners. He brings experience with corporates and multi-nationals, as well as large local corporates in both China and India which complements and strengthen ANZ’s Asia growth strategy.

Steve Bellotti is Managing Director, Global Markets. He joined ANZ in March 2010 from Blue Sky Capital Strategies.  

Steve has worked in leadership roles in global capital markets for 23 years. He has built a number of large complex capital markets operations for global banks, including Merrill Lynch and Dresdner Kleinwort in London, New York, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore.
 
He has worked across all asset classes - managing bonds, foreign exchange, rates, credit, equities, derivatives, sales and trading for Merrill Lynch in nine successive Managing Director positions over 13 years. Steve has transformed and led large teams in many of his roles, and has a reputation for building high-performing, motivated teams which deliver strong results.

His most recent roles have been based in London, including MD – Head of European Debt Trading and Sales, Derivatives, Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance for Merrill Lynch and MD – Global Head of Capital Markets for Dresdner Kleinwort Group.

Sameer Sawhney is the Managing Director of Corporate & Institutional Banking Asia Pacific and Private Bank Asia, at ANZ. In this role Sameer has accountability for corporates and financial institutions as well as a range of financial products. Sameer also has accountability over the Private Bank business for Asia Pacific.

In July 2008, Sameer joined ANZ as the Managing Director of Corporate and Institutional Relationships, Asia Pacific. Prior to ANZ, Sameer worked for Standard Chartered Bank in various roles within the Wholesale division including Relationship Management, Transaction Banking and Markets. He also has experience across various markets including India, Middle East, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Sameer started his banking career with ANZ Grindlay's bank in India. He has two decades of experience in the banking industry and is a Chartered Accountant by profession.

Before joining ANZ, Graeme worked at Deutsche Bank for four years where his most recent position was Managing Director, Global Head of Banking & Cash Operations.

During this period, he was responsible for operational line management and held budget responsibility for 28 locations supporting Deutsche Bank's global cash management franchise. He also led the restructuring of Deutsche Bank's European and Asian branch network operations.

Prior to working with Deutsche Bank, Graeme held senior operations and strategy roles at Cisco Systems and Barclays Bank.

Graeme holds a Masters degree from Cambridge and an MBA from London Business School.

Daniel King is the General Manager Human Resources - Institutional.  In this role Daniel oversees Institutional's human resources agenda and leads the delivery of HR strategies, policies and practices for 5,000 Institutional employees worldwide.

Daniel joined ANZ in September 2006 as Head of Change, providing strategic HR advice to support the establishment of ANZ’s new technology and operations hubs in Bangalore, India.

In June 2007 he was appointed as ANZ’s Head of HR Shared Services and became Institutional's Head of HR, Enablement and Business Management in 2009. Immediately prior to joining ANZ, Daniel was a senior advisor to the Federal Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, providing policy advice and legal expertise on national workplace relations reforms.

Beginning his career as a lawyer, Daniel specialised in industrial and employee relations at Corrs Chambers Westgarth before joining Freehills in 2001 where he spent three years advising government and corporate clients on all aspects of employment law. 

Daniel holds a Master of Laws from the University of Queensland.

Russell Shields is Queensland Chairman. In this role, he is responsible for assisting in the further development as well as being the central focal point for ANZ, in Business, Community and Government in one of Australia's fastest growing states - Queensland.

Russell is an experienced banker with extensive knowledge of retail, corporate, institutional and investment banking both in Australia and Asia. Before joining ANZ, he was Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Transport, Construction & Infrastructure based in Hong Kong and prior to that Regional Manager of Financial Institutional Group in both Hong Kong Australia and New Zealand for HSBC Group. He began his career by establishing the Queensland office of Wardley Australia, the investment banking arm of the HSBC Group and subsequently held several senior finance roles in Australia and Asia.

Russell is a member of the Hong Kong Maritime Council, an advisory body to the Hong Kong Government on maritime issues; and Chairman of Maritime Capital Shipping, a Hong Kong based shipping company.

Warwick Smith is Chairman, NSW & ACT. In this role Warwick represents ANZ’s interests across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

Prior to joining ANZ, and was Executive Director of Macquarie Bank where he chaired the Investment Bank’s Telecommunications, Media, Entertainment and Technology (TMET) Group & Global Head of Corporate Communications. Following a legal career in Tasmania, Warwick spent 15 years in Federal Parliament as Minister for Family Services, Sport, Territories and Local Government, and Minister assisting the Prime Minister for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and Shadow Portfolios in Communications, Energy, Science and Aboriginal Affairs, Privatisation and Leader of the House of Representatives.

Warwick is also Chairman of the Advisory Board of Australian Capital Equity Pty Ltd (ACE), the private holding company of Seven Holding Groups Ltd. He is the Deputy Chair of the Asia Society of Australia, the inaugural Australian Business Member for BOAO Forum for Asia. He has previously served as Australia’s first Telecommunications Ombudsman and as National President of the Australia China Business Council and Chairman of The Global Foundation.
